Dictionnary of the Saulteux Language
by Frederic Baraga

This work was done not by a Jesuit, but by Frederic Baraga (1797-1868), who served as a missionary in Canada and the northern U.S. He became bishop of Marquette, near Sault St. Marie. This is when he developed this dictionary of the language of the Ojibwe, the people who lived near the entrance to Lake Superior.
